Established in 2005, bizology is a product of the collective business experience and passion of Deborah Floyd and Bob Hawkes.

Deborah Floyd and Bob Hawkes - passionate about your success

Deborah Floyd

Deborah has more than 20 years experience as a generalist senior manager and consultant working with small business, Local Government and the community sector. Her specialty is helping businesses through organisational change.

As a ‘bizologist’, Deborah provides executive level support and contributes to strategic direction, governance, compliance, policy and procedures, risk, finance, payroll, business systems and human resource matters. She has a ‘hands on’ approach and a strong commitment to developing individuals and organisations.

Deborah's early management experience included seven years as a senior Local Government manager with the City of Adelaide. She was the first woman and youngest person in the history of the City of Adelaide to hold such a management position.

In previous roles, Deborah has excelled as both project manager and business manager. Deborah provided executive level advice and developed quality systems and processes for both Accumulus Financial Planners and Sheppard Consulting Group.

She ensured a smooth transition for the purchase of Sheppard Consulting Group by Lee Hecht Harrison, including re-branding, new premises and new technology.

Working with Prescott Consultants Ltd, Deborah brought three successful Adelaide companies together to trade as one, under the same roof. She managed strategic and operational issues, along with integration of business philosophies, management styles and most importantly, people.

Deborah’s earlier consultancy, Deborah Floyd and Associates, specialised in improvements to organisational structure, operations and efficiency.

Bob Hawkes

With over 25 years experience either owning or working with small business, Bob provides Bizology clients with a range of management and administrative services including finance and payroll, building and equipment management, customer service and contract management.  Bob’s specialty is his keen sense of the small business life cycle and helping business owners get on with the job.

Bob’s early career included sales, supervisory and management roles in service companies such as Budget RentaCar and McDonalds and a career track management position at GH Michell & Sons.

He then established his own successful small business, Dudley Car Detailers, which he ran for 12 years. Bob set the business up from scratch, from sales and customer service through to all financial and human resource management for the employment of five staff. He sold the business as a successful and financially viable concern.

Bob is also a qualified audio engineer. He combined his significant business and audio skills as business manager for Allpro Audio, managing all administrative and management aspects of the company as well as a high-end audio retail shop. Bob worked with high profile clients including Adelaide Festival and Fringe, Womadelaide and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

Bob also provided crucial support to Producers of McLaren Vale, a separate business venture for the owner of Allpro Audio. This was a financial and administrative role including cashflow, reconciliation and maintaining MYOB.
